Study 4- Electronic Decision Support Tool
In the Kanyini Audit study, we documented significant evidence-practice gaps in the management of high-risk patients. We have successfully piloted the implementation of an electronic decision support tool to enable primary care practitioners to assess absolute cardiovascular disease risk more easily at the point of care and to implement a simpler, evidence-based approach to management based on the level of risk. This tool has been piloted in NSW in three partner health services and several mainstream among 21 health professionals and 200 patients general practices. The findings will determine the feasibility and acceptability of the tool and help guide its future development into a fully interactive version that is integrated within the commonly used medical software platforms.
